On-Air with Derek Peters: The Strange Art of Podcasting

We live in a rapidly changing world, and as technologies develop so too do different opportunities for artistic expression. Radio has long been a means of communication for commercial use, but moreover has also established an enormously relevant and accessible platform for information sharing – in particular towards artistic, political, and cultural ends.
This second episode of Soundboard features an interview with Derek Peters, the Podcasting Program Director at Motley. Derek has long worked in the field of radio, and as the medium of podcasting is evolving into its own standing, he is working on the front lines of the cultural transition. New media mean new forms of art, and our conversation in this episode focuses explicitly on parsing out the similarities, differences, and nuances between podcasting as an art form and radio as a medium. As always, thank you for listening.
